Hold-Up Volume
During filtration, all systems retain some liquid that cannot be recovered. This is called “hold-up” volume. The larger the hold-up volume, the greater the loss of media and reagents. However, the Upstream “Hold up” Volume can be recovered by pumping air through the vent. A hefty percentage of the upstream volume can be collected from the process. Downstream hold up volume is harder to recover. One of the conventional ways is to drip it out from the filter outlet.
International Filter products offers hold-up volume filter capsules with low retention rates that reduces the hold-up volume significantly.
